Las Vegas Pylon 7v7 Preview

This weekend in Las Vegas doesn’t just feature UFC champ Connor MacGregor, it also plays host to the biggest 7v7 tournament in the USA. Pylon’s 7v7 Tournament has grown over the years with now over 120 teams all trying to take home that massive piece of hardware. Pylon is celebrating its 10th anniversary the first weekend in March, and will feature top talent across the nation before March Madness college basketball takes over Sin City. Pylon has helped brand the game of football and turn it into a year round sport with some of the best names in the game. NFL talents like Teddy Bridgewater, Tavon Austin, Vontaze Burifect, DeAnthony Thomas, and Shaq Thompson are just a few of the 150 NFL players who have played in Pylon.

All American Park is a short drive from the Vegas Strip and provides the home turf for the tournament made up of several different fields. Teams check into The Circus Circus Hotel on Friday for a fun welcoming ceremony to kick things off. Tournament pool play starts at 8am on Saturday for an all-day 7v7 affair. Sunday at 8am will mark the start of playoffs where all teams will be participating in single elimination. One loss on Sunday and you can pack your bags. The Championship game is projected to start around 6pm as the field gets eliminated to the last two teams remaining.

Representing locally will be two of the best 7v7 teams in the Pacific Northwest, Ford Sports Performance and Team E-Force. These two teams met Portland in late February, and it was one of the best matchups to this day. They will now bring that experience to fabulous Las Vegas. E-Force had a humbling experience with a loss, while Team FSP still rides high as one of the favorites in the field. E-Force made the final 4 last year, and this year Ford Sports will be playing without Georgia Bulldog, Jacob Eason. Eason was rated #1 pocket passer in the 2016 recruiting class. Ford Sports Performance took the 8th Grade title last year and are going for the repeat this year. FSP squad has shown the most consistency this season and has done a great job staying focused while having fun at same time.

Other favorites in the field are 702 Elite, Ground Zero, and B2G. 702 Elite is home to the number 1 dual threat

quarterback in the class of 2017 from Vegas’s Bishop Gorman. Tate Martell even had a northwest connection as he committed to former Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian as an 8th grader and stayed committed until Washington lost to Oklahoma State in the Cactus Bowl after Petersen’s first season. Now committed to Texas A&M, his future looks bright as head coach Kevin Sumlin gets to mentor another dual threat talent.

One of

the most underrated recruits in the tournament is Eastside Catholic’s Zach Lewis. Lewis is a member of Ford Sports Performance. The 2018 recruit has raised up the Ford Sports depth chart while positioning himself as a household name. He is a very skilled player with a great arm. Conner Neville from Wilsonville, Oregon will be another big headliner in Vegas this weekend. Neville has been named Oregon’s #1 quarterback prospect who plays for Team E-Force. Northwest ballers at the skill positions are Hunter Bryant, Salvon Ahmad, Elijah Molden, and top dog, Conner Wedington, who is committed to Washington. This year’s Pylon 7v7 will not disappoint in Sin City as the new talent rolls through and will soon be household names.
