Left Coast Elite 7v7 Championship Tourney

This weekend the 7v7 football season has reached its highest stage in the state of Washington. The Left Coast Elite 7v7 Championship Tournament this Saturday at 12pm will be played at Foster high school. Highlighted by great local athletes at skills positions from classes 2017-2020. The 7v7 format has gained attention from high school coaches as well as college recruits. This regular season has been highlighted by fast, up-tempo play from flashy high school players and some well-known household names. Majority of regular season action has taken place at Ingraham High School in Seattle on Saturdays.

Leading in the standings is Ford Sports Performance's Blue Chip Team featuring a well-known cast of players headed to the division one ranks with a spotless 13-0 record. Top passer from the

FSP Blue Chips, and league leader is Eastside Catholic's Zach Lewis. With video game type statistics, the 2018 quarterback has thrown for 46 touchdowns and has a completion rate of 81%. Leading receiver in the Left Coast Elite is Franklin Pierce’s finest, Willie Patterson, with 59 catches and 22 touchdowns. Patterson is also a member of the FSP Blue Chip team. In the fall Patterson can be seen playing quarterback for Franklin Pierce High School, but is a standout receiver in 7v7. He is a receiving machine for team FSP. Defensively the leader in interceptions and pass breakups is new Husky commit Connor Wedington from Sumner High School. He has been a force setting the edge and has used his size (6-1 190) and speed to lead FSP Blue Chip's squad. Wedington has been looked at on both sides of the ball by colleges and plays running back and cornerback for his Spartans team in the fall.

A surprising group of talented 8th graders have been playing very competitive this winter. Being the only 8th grade team playing in the High School league they enter the LCE Championship tournament the No. 6th seed at 8-5. The FSP 8th grade team is lead by wide receiver Gee Scott Jr, Michael Franklin at quarterback, and Ayden Hector at Corner. These three have emerged as the leaders of the FSP 8th grade team and have the size, athleticism, and talent to be some of the top rated recruits in the class of 2020. Gee Scott Jr (6-2 170) uses his size to his advantage tearing apart defensive backs with 40 catches and 10 touchdowns. Michael Franklin has all the tools to be the next national QB recruit from the state of Washington. At 6-1 170 and still growing Michael has thrown for 20 touchdowns with a 59% completion rating. Ayden Hector (5-11 175) ranks second in the league in interceptions (5 INTS) and 4 pass break ups.

Some other nice surprises in the 7v7 circuit have emerged with players such as Anthony Stell. Stell is a sophomore from Rainier Beach High School on the Rainier Beach 7v7 squad, racking up 34 catches and 8 touchdowns. Issaquah Eagle’s, Payton Person, has turned heads with his 66 % completion rating and 21 touchdowns for Issaquah’s 7v7 team. Hunter Wendling from Stadium High and Stadium 7v7 has been lighting it up with 33 touchdowns and a 68% completion rating bringing his team to a 9-4 record and the No. 3 seed heading into the championship tournament. Foster High School in Tukwila will be the final destination for this Left Coast Elite Championship Tournament and this will be your chance locally to catch these teams before the stakes get higher in regional and national 7v7 tournaments.
